It took several years of research and study to learn about essential oils and true aromatherapy. Now I am pleased to provided condensed and concise information for the beginner on the easy use of essential oils and aromatherapy for home and personal use as well as for the professionals who wish to include them in their practice. This winter, in particular, seems to have brought about many respiratory system maladies as well as other ailments. I have found several essential oils that have an impact on the respiratory system. Diffusing essential oils with an electronic diffuser into the atmosphere is one way to purify the atmosphere and to protect the respiratory system. The eucalyptus essential oils, eucalyptus globulus and eucalyptus radiata, ravensara, lemon, pine, and others can make a pleasing blend. For those who do not have the time to make their own blends, there are several blends that are already prepared for ease of use. The electronic diffuser is very easy to use and would be an asset to every home.

Reducing stress will also improve our health. It is now known that over 80% of dis-ease in the body is directly related to stress and its negative effects on the body. Making the time for a relaxing bath, whether it is once a week or daily, is another excellent method of using essential oils for their relaxing and calming benefits. Some of the relaxing essential oils include lavender officinalis, lavandin, lavandula vera, clary sage, bergamot, and the chamomiles.

Muscle aches and pains are also more prominent in the winter months. Including essential oils of juniper, lemongrass, rosemary, or marjoram in the bath blend will help relax and soothe the muscles. Regular massage with essential oils is beneficial for reducing stress and easing muscle aches and pains.

Most children and adults have difficulty sleeping or getting enough sleep. Diffusing calming essential oils or blends in the evening can help provide everyone with a better night’s sleep. Relaxing with a good book and soothing music are much more conducive to creating a relaxing atmosphere than watching television and playing computer games.

When considering the purchase of essential oils, know who your supplier is. For your protection use essential oils that are chemotyped or EOBBD (Essential Oils Botanically and Biochemically Defined) Quality Assurance.
