Celebrating our passions in life is ‘music to our ears’. Busy lifestyles and stress are all too prevalent in today’s society. This detracts from the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual balance in our lives. It is now known that over 80% of ‘dis-ease’ in the body is related to stress. Now, more than ever, it is important to take time to enjoy music and nature. Those of us who live in urban areas often are far removed from nature unless we make a point of experiencing nature and the benefits of enjoying the outdoors.

Essential oil therapy can play a part in enhancing the quality of life. Essential oils can help keep us calm and centered and assist the body in preventing maladies.

I began using and studying essential oils and aromatherapy two decades ago. During that time I have experienced and seen the many benefits of using therapeutic essential oils for humans and animals. Maintaining our health and well-being allows us to enjoy the many wonderful things life has to offer. Essential oils are complementary.

Some of the ways we can use essential oils to assist us in improving our health are regular aromatherapy massage, enjoying relaxing baths, and using an electronic diffuser in the home or office (stable or barn for animals).

Historically the bath has been known to have healing and relaxing effects on the body. Simply add a few drops of your favorite essential oil blend to the bath, leave the bathroom softly lit, and relax in the tub while enjoying your favorite music.

Essential oils that are very pleasant in the bath include Lavender (Lavandula officinalis), Bergamot, Clary sage, Geranium, Frankincense, Sandalwood, Ylang ylang, Neroli, Eucalyptus globulus, Eucalyptus citriodora, Ravensara, and many others.

Bath recipe:
¼ cup bath salts or other emulsifier
Add: 4 drops Lavender (Lavandula officinalis), 2 drops Clary sage, and 1 drop Ylang ylang. Mix and add to drawn bath. Relax for 20 minutes.

Many essential oils are useful for electronic diffusion into the atmosphere. The choice of essential oils will depend upon the ambiance you wish to create. Purifying the atmosphere with this method will help ward colds and influenza. Diffusing essential oils in the work place promotes joy and is uplifting. The result is enhanced communication and better working relationships.
